A New Favorite Food

Yesterday, since we did so much walking in the ruins and the park, we decided to be a bit more lazy today, and not do as much. When we first woke up, we went to a small little restaurant that serves breakfast-snacks. We got some of these things called "salteñas", which are savory pastries stuffed with meat. The restaurant was very popular, even though it was early morning, so that's why we decided to go there -- most other restaurants were not even open yet, and the ones that were had almost no one there, so we assumed this place must be great. We decided on the salteñas because almost everyone was getting those. Going to that restaurant and getting the salteñas turned out to be a very good decision, because the salteñas were absolutely fantastic. They had sugary bread with a bunch of delicious, spicy, chicken wrapped inside it -- it was unlike anything we've ever tasted. They were so good that I had three of them. I didn't even care if they were unhealthy, they were just too good to resist. I only wish they had salteñas in America, especially a restaurant that serves them, if they did, I'd probably go to it every day.

After we had such a that delicious mid morning snack, or rather, our breakfast and lunch, we just wandered around the city La Paz, not in a hurry, and not looking for anything in particular. We went to a few marketplaces, and all the little shops in them, and we went to a several museums, this place had dozens of them! Some of them were pretty cool too. Then we visited the "Cementerio General", where many of Bolivia's past presidents were buried. We also visited the house of Simon Bolivar, who helped establish Bolivia's independence in 1825. We didn't see or go to anything REALLY exciting, but it was very fun and relaxing just walking around the city with nothing on our minds, so much different than home, where you don't often get time to just walk around and doing nothing in particular, just whatever you like. It's a nice feeling.

It's around eight o'clock now -- we wandered around the city for nearly ten hours. We took breaks, obviously, at restuarants and bathrooms, but for the most part we never stopped walking, even though we intended to be lazy today. I guess walking around in aimlessly in a city is somewhat lazy, but boy are my legs tired. We are just going to head back to the hotel now now, since it's getting dark. Tomorrow we'll plan on doing something that doesn't require us to walk so much.
